Weigh and Measure
After losing weight, your body can only use a very small amount of calories. This is the mistake that most post-dieters make – upping the number of calories now that the diet is over. At 115 pounds, my caloric intake needed to maintain weight is low and so I must take extraordinary measures to plan food and exercise so that I can stick with the plan. I weigh my food so I can monitor how much I am consuming.

Weight Loss as a Goal can Obscure Other Goals
The main drawback of losing weight is (because it is the number one New Year’s resolution) once achieved, it is imperative to set new goals. Although most other goals are not as quantitative and quantifiable as losing weight, new goals can be fitness related, career oriented, relationship building and/or learning a new skill.

Weight Loss vs Weight Maintenance
Achieving one’s goal weight is not the ultimate goal as maintaining the weight is a longer-term and more challenging continual goal. Developing a routine makes weight loss and maintenance easier and makes achieving one’s goal realistic and sustainable.
